MICHIGAN — Attorney General Dana Nessel is warning residents of an ongoing door-to-door scam involving people claiming to be security system sales reps.

Here’s how it works: Individuals are reportedly showing up at homes and claiming to work for ADT, a contractor hired by ADT, or a company that allegedly purchased ADT. Generally, they won’t have any ADT identification. The goal is to get the residents to sign up for a new security service.

“It’s important to be aware that bad actors may appear at your door purporting to be from ADT or another security company. Consumers should be cautious and ask solicitors for identification, review the terms and all documents they provide thoroughly, and ensure you understand what that means for the security of your family, your home, and your business,” Nessel said in a statement.
